Does a life insurance company legally have to tell someone if a policy has been taken out on them? In other words, could your husband take out a life insurance policy on you without you even being informed by the insurance company?
Is there a place where someone can search to find out if a policy has been taken out in their name?

Most life insurance companies require a insurance exam and that would require the insureds consent. The Medical Information Bureau
would have a file on anyone who applied for life insurance. This might be a good source to see if an application had been submitted.

LISA: I would follow up with the people on the documentation where you found your name. Seems suspicious to me too...

I am a Chartered Life Underwriter. I don't know everything there is to know about insurance, but I've never heard of anyone being able to take out life insurance on someone else without them knowing it.

You do not know some families. My exhusbands family lived on insurance policies forged his name for everything even flowers I had to pay, and my sister is making a living sueing people she works a few months for. Sad to say you the world is full of this kind of thing.
If you would like to research just one name see what Elizabeth Norma Payne had as to life insurance and she signed with dementia many insurance policies for anyone.

I'm a Human Resources Director and our employees may purchase Group Life Insurance for their spouses and/or children without their knowledge; this would not require physicals nor disclosure…
