Index annuity

I feel that index annuities are almost always a bad idea. First off you can accomplish the same thing as an index by simply buying an index through an etf and then going out and short part of the index. Secondly most index annuities only allow a certian percentage of the gain in the index and they do not allow dividends. Annuities can be good but I would stick to variable annuities or Fixed.
